An invitation

Come See What God is Doing in Kenya

Every year Helping Kenya Kids leads life-changing mission trips into rural Kenya, where churches, schools, and communities are discovering the love of Christ together. You are invited to join them.

These trips don't just change Kenya. They change the people who go.

Why Kenya?

You are not coming to rescue Kenya.
You are coming to meet Christ there.

People come home from Kenya changed. They talk about slowing down. About worship that lasts for hours. About faith that costs something. About Kenyan pastors and teachers whose joy makes them ask hard questions about their own lives.

A trip to Kenya is a chance to experience God in new ways, to serve alongside Kenyan brothers and sisters, to build lifelong friendships, and to discover a purpose you didn't know you were missing.

Maybe God is inviting you.

Every trip has a purpose

Three ways to serve.

Whatever God has put in your hands — medicine, teaching, or simply your presence — there is a place for you on a team.

Meet the child you sponsor

The letters have faces. The photos come alive.

Many sponsors eventually travel to Kenya to meet the child they have prayed for. They walk to school together. They meet parents. They sit in the child's classroom. They eat in the child's home.

It is one of the most sacred moments a person can experience — and for the child, it is proof that they were never forgotten.

Frequently asked

Good questions have good answers.

The quick answer is “No”. The medical teams require licensed professionals, but every other trip welcomes anyone willing to serve. Most volunteers have no missions background at all.

Yes. Teens traveling with a parent or church youth group are a beautiful part of many teams. We'll walk with you on age-appropriate preparation. We recommend that children be at least 10 years old to fully appreciate the culture and cope with the travel.

There are no vaccinations currently required by the country of Kenya for international travelers. A current tetanus vaccine is recommended, but not required.

It's a long flight, and Kenya's rural roads can be quite an adventure! But don't worry, we take care of everything from the moment you land until you head home. And once you meet the incredible people of Kenya, you'll quickly forget the bumps along the way!

Passport? Yes! Visa? No! You'll need a valid passport that doesn't expire within six months after your return date. Kenya also requires an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA), but don't worry, we'll walk you through it! About 30–45 days before departure, we'll provide everything you need, including easy, step-by-step instructions to complete the online application. We make the paperwork simple so you can focus on the adventure ahead!

Clean, safe, and comfortable! Think of a nice 3.5-star hotel back home. Our meals are specially prepared with travelers in mind, helping us avoid many of the usual stomach troubles. It's not quite a luxury resort, but you might be pleasantly surprised at just how comfortable Kenya can be!

The regions where we serve are peaceful and welcoming. Every trip is led by Helping Kenya Kids staff and Kenyan partners who know the ground and prioritize your safety.

Yes — and it is often the most unforgettable moment of the trip. Let us know in advance and we'll build the visit into your itinerary.

We'll send a detailed packing list. Modest clothing, sturdy shoes, a Bible, a journal, and a spirit of flexibility go a long way.

Not much! Everything is covered from the moment you arrive until you head home. You'll only need extra money for souvenirs, airport snacks, or personal purchases. Credit cards are widely accepted and often offer great exchange rates. We recommend bringing about $50 in cash to exchange for Kenyan shillings when shopping at local markets. After all, you'll probably want to bring a little piece of Kenya home with you!

Moderate. You'll walk on uneven ground, sit in vans on bumpy roads, and be on your feet through school and clinic days. Most ages and fitness levels do great.
